Description
The Moroccan hand-painted ceramic soap dish (Moroccan soap dish or porte-savon).
It is a typical craft piece from Morocco (Fez).
Rectangular or slightly oval shape with raised edge.
Hand-painted in vibrant colours (such as blue, green, red/orange, yellow) on a white or cream base, with a dark border or pattern on the side (often checkered, wave or abstract designs).
Several small holes (drainage holes) in the bottom or tray, so that water can drain away from the soap and the soap does not become soft or moldy.
Sometimes a slightly raised central motif (such as a flower, star or abstract symbol) with additional perforations.
These types of soap dishes are popular as a Moroccan-style bathroom accessory (boho, ethnic, hammam-inspired).
